BSNL Is Offering Free 4G SIM Upgrade and Complimentary 4GB Data to 2G and 3G Users

In a move toward modernizing its network and enhancing user experiences, the telecommunication giant, Bharti Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), is offering a free upgrade to 4G SIM cards for its 2G and 3G users. Moreover, BSNL is sweetening the deal by providing users with 4GB of complimentary data, valid for three months.

This initiative, announced by BSNL Andhra Pradesh on a social platform, is part of the company's ongoing efforts to transition its user base into the 4G era.

BSNL Offering Free 4G SIM Upgrade, Free 4GB Data

BSNL is making it easier for its existing 2G and 3G customers to embrace the latest 4G technology by providing a free 4G SIM card accompanied by 4GB of data at no extra cost. It's important to note that the complimentary data comes with a three-month validity. The announcement was first spotted on social media platform X by Telecom Talk. To make the upgrade, users can visit their nearest BSNL customer service center, franchise, retailer, or Direct Selling Agent (DSA).

BSNL Expected To Launch 5G Network After June 2024

While BSNL's competitors like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have been making strides in the 5G arena, BSNL is currently focusing on transitioning its network to 4G. Originally, BSNL had plans to upgrade its 4G network to 5G by December 2023, but this timeline was extended. At the recent Mobile India Congress 2023, BSNL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) P.K. Purwar announced that the 4G rollout is anticipated to be completed by June 2024, following which the company will embark on its 5G journey.

BSNL's 5G network development is bolstered by the state-run Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), which has indigenously crafted the entire 5G network for BSNL. The deployment of this network is expected to occur within the next six to eight months. A notable highlight was C-DoT's live demonstration of their 5G setup during a video call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the India Mobile Congress 2023.

BSNL Offers Free Data As Part Of Festive Deals

As the festive season approaches, BSNL is adding a dose of celebration to its services. The company is offering an extra 3GB of free data with selected recharge plans, enhancing the value of these plans for users during the festive period. These plans include the Rs 251, Rs 299, and Rs 398 options. To avail of the additional data, users need to recharge through the BSNL Self-care app or website.

For instance, the Rs 251 recharge plan now comes with a total of 73GB of data for a 28-day validity period. Meanwhile, the Rs 299 data voucher provides 3GB of data per day, and the free 3GB data has the same 30-day validity as the plan itself. The Rs 398 recharge voucher, also part of BSNL's festive offerings, provides users with 3GB of extra data on top of the 120GB already included in the plan, all valid for 30 days.
