BSNL Launches New ₹225 Prepaid Plan With Unlimited Calls and 2.5GB Daily Data
State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set for a major milestone. On September 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the company’s 'Swadeshi’ 4G network, a move that puts India alongside countries like Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China in producing and manufacturing telecom equipment domestically. The development was first reported by PTI on September 26.
Alongside the rollout, BSNL has also been quietly adjusting its prepaid catalog, and now, there’s a brand-new ₹225 recharge plan in the mix.

A Network Built in India
According to PTI, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the upcoming network as cloud-based and “future-ready,” with the ability to be upgraded seamlessly to 5G when needed. The scale of the rollout is significant — BSNL’s 4G stack will go live across close to 98,000 sites simultaneously, spanning multiple states.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the service in Jharsuguda, Odisha, while Scindia will be present for the parallel launch in Guwahati. As part of the same event, the government will also announce India’s 100 percent 4G saturation project under the Digital Bharat Nidhi initiative, which has already connected nearly 30,000 villages in rural regions.
The New Rs 225 Plan
As part of the lead-up to the launch, BSNL has introduced a new ₹225 prepaid plan. The voucher offers unlimited local and STD calls, unlimited data with speeds reduced to 40 Kbps after 2.5GB per day, and 100 SMS per day. It comes with a validity of 30 days.
Other Plans in the Same Range
If you compare it to other BSNL vouchers, the differences are fairly small. The ₹229 and ₹228 packs both provide 2GB per day, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS with one-month validity. Meanwhile, the ₹199 plan offers similar benefits but is valid for 28 days.
