BSNL Rolls Out Wi-Fi Calling Across All Circles in India
On the occasion of New Year, state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) rolled out Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), also known as Wi-Fi Calling, across India. The service is now available to BSNL users in all telecom circles, offering clearer voice calls and improved connectivity even in low-signal areas.
VoWiFi lets subscribers make and receive voice calls and messages through any stable Wi-Fi network. The service works in homes, offices, basements and remote spots where mobile signals often drop. Calls still use the normal dialler, so customers do not need a separate application.

BSNL Rolls Out VoWiFi (Wi-Fi Calling)
BSNL aims to improve coverage quality, especially where traditional towers struggle. Routing calls over Wi-Fi can also ease pressure on mobile networks. This may reduce congestion during busy hours in urban and semi-urban locations.
Most recent smartphones already support VoWiFi, so many BSNL users can start quickly. Customers simply need to switch on Wi-Fi Calling within the device's network or SIM settings menu. Those unsure about compatibility can visit a nearby BSNL customer service centre or call the BSNL helpline number 18001503.
The Wi-Fi Calling feature is particularly useful in rural and remote regions that have limited mobile coverage. Users in such areas can still talk clearly if a reliable Wi-Fi connection exists. VoWiFi calls do not carry additional charges beyond standard plans, which may help customers manage monthly communication costs.
BSNL's VoWiFi launch brings a uniform Wi-Fi Calling experience to its entire subscriber base across India. The initiative supports better voice quality for homes, offices and challenging indoor spaces, while also extending connectivity in underserved locations. Together with customer support through helplines and centres, the service strengthens BSNL's nationwide communication network.
