BSNL Reveals New Logo and Seven New Services, Including Satellite SMS and 24/7 SIM Kiosks

BSNL has unveiled a fresh new logo, symbolizing its commitment to connecting India securely, affordably, and reliably. At an event in New Delhi, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced not only the rebranding but also seven new services aimed at enhancing user experience, security, and convenience.

Stepping Up Connectivity with New Features

As BSNL moves forward with its 4G rollout, the company is also launching new services designed to improve everything from security to seamless connectivity. According to Minister Scindia, this launch represents a new era for BSNL, with the goal of making reliable and affordable connectivity available to all.

BSNL Unveils New Logo and Seven Services to Enhance Connectivity

One key feature introduced is spam-blocking technology, which aims to stop phishing attempts and malicious SMS in their tracks. With digital security becoming more of a concern these days, this feature is set to offer some peace of mind for users.

On the convenience side, BSNL also introduced Wi-Fi roaming. This service allows BSNL users to automatically connect to any BSNL FTTH Wi-Fi network while traveling. Additionally, those using BSNL's FTTH service will now have access to over 500 premium TV channels via the fiber-based intranet live TV service.

Satellite-to-Device Connectivity

Perhaps the most exciting development is BSNL's introduction of India's first satellite-to-device connectivity service for SMS. This service works on land, air, and sea, ensuring users can stay connected even in remote locations. It's particularly useful in areas with limited network coverage and could be a lifeline during emergencies. The technology even supports UPI payments, which is great for staying connected in areas with unreliable or no mobile network.

BSNL also announced a disaster management network solution, which provides a unified communication system that can be deployed quickly during emergencies.

Anytime SIM Access with Automated Kiosks

In a bid to make SIM card purchases and management easier, BSNL has rolled out Any Time SIM (ATS) kiosks. These kiosks allow users to buy, upgrade, or replace SIM cards at any time, 24/7. The process is seamless, with digital payments and KYC integration, meaning there's no need to visit a store to access these services. This will be particularly useful for people in remote areas or those who need quick access to BSNL services.

Expanding 5G Capabilities and Services

BSNL isn't stopping at 4G. In partnership with CDAC, the company has introduced low-latency 5G technology for the mining sector, showcasing a push towards improving productivity with locally developed, Made-in-India equipment. This could be a major step forward for technological self-reliance in the country.

Although the company is still in the process of rolling out its 4G network nationwide, it's setting the groundwork for 5G, with plans to make the transition smoother using its self-developed 4G telecom stack. The full 5G rollout is expected within six to eight months after 4G is completed.

Looking Ahead

With the increase in mobile tariffs from competitors like Airtel, Jio, and Vi, BSNL's affordable plans have been attracting more subscribers. The company's focus on providing secure, affordable, and accessible services is clearly paying off, and its new initiatives show a commitment to bringing reliable telecom services to both urban and rural areas.
