Jio Brings Back ₹189 Voice-Only Prepaid Plan with Unlimited Calls and SMS—Here’s What It Offers
Reliance Jio has brought back its ₹189 voice-only prepaid plan, a move that follows recent adjustments to its standalone voice calling packs. The plan, which was briefly discontinued, is now available under Jio's "affordable packs" category.
Jio introduced dedicated voice-only plans to comply with a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directive, which requires telecom operators to provide special tariff vouchers (STVs) exclusively for voice calls and SMS. Alongside this, Jio has also revised long-term voice plan pricing, tweaking validity periods and pricing structures.

What the ₹189 Prepaid Plan Offers
As per a TelecomTalk report, the ₹189 prepaid plan includes:
- 28-day validity
- Unlimited voice calls across all networks
- 300 SMS
- 2GB of high-speed data, after which speeds drop to 64Kbps
- Access to JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud, but no JioCinema Premium subscription
For those looking for a budget-friendly voice plan, this is currently Jio's lowest-priced voice pack, followed by the ₹199 plan, which offers 18 days of validity, 1.5GB of daily data, and 100 SMS per day.
Jio's Adjustments to Long-Term Voice Plans
Jio has also made changes to its long-term voice-only plans, lowering prices but also tweaking their validity:
- The ₹1,958 prepaid plan now costs ₹1,748, but its validity has been reduced from 365 days to 336 days.
- The ₹458 plan has been adjusted to ₹448, while its 84-day validity remains unchanged.
