MWC 2025: Jio Unveils AI-Driven Telecom Platform in Collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia
At Mobile World Congress 2025, Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), in collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, outlined plans for an Open Telecom AI Platform.
The initiative is designed to integrate AI-driven automation and intelligence into telecom networks, with a focus on network security, efficiency, and operational improvements.

Integrating AI into Telecom Networks
The Open Telecom AI Platform is being developed as a multi-domain intelligence framework. It will incorporate Agentic AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Small Language Models (SLMs), and other machine learning (ML) techniques to enhance how networks are monitored, maintained, and optimized.
According to Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, the project goes beyond traditional automation by introducing AI-driven autonomous networks that can adapt to real-time conditions, improving service reliability and operational efficiency.
How the AI Platform Works
The platform is designed to be LLM-agnostic, meaning it will be compatible with various AI models. It will also use open APIs, allowing it to integrate with existing telecom infrastructure without requiring major overhauls.
Potential Applications:
- Network Optimization – AI will analyze network performance and adjust resources dynamically.
- Security Monitoring – Automated threat detection will help identify and respond to cyber risks.
- Cost Efficiency – AI-driven operations could reduce the need for manual network management.
- New Service Opportunities – AI insights may allow telecom providers to develop new offerings.
Collaboration Among Industry Leaders
- AMD will contribute computing hardware and AI processing capabilities.
- Cisco will provide expertise in networking, security, and analytics.
- Nokia will focus on integrating AI across RAN, Core, and Optical networks.
Jio as the First Adopter
Jio will be the first telecom provider to deploy this AI platform, serving as a test case for broader industry adoption. The goal is to develop a replicable model that can be used by other service providers looking to incorporate AI into their network management strategies.
