Tata Communications Partners with BSNL to Launch eSIM Services

Tata Communications has teamed up with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to introduce eSIM services in India. This collaboration aims to enhance mobile connectivity by offering a seamless and secure experience for users. The eSIM service is particularly beneficial for international travellers, as it allows them to connect with local operators abroad using a secure QR code.

BSNL's new eSIM services are powered by Tata Communications' advanced digital infrastructure solutions. The GSMA-approved platform, known as Tata Communications MOVE, is instrumental in this deployment. This platform is managed by Tata Communications Collaboration Services Private Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Communications Ltd., and facilitates the provisioning of eSIMs for BSNL's nationwide subscribers.

Enhanced Connectivity with Dual-SIM Support

The introduction of BSNL's eSIM services marks a significant advancement in mobile connectivity within India. By leveraging Tata Communications MOVE, these eSIMs offer remote provisioning of 2G, 3G, and 4G services via a secure QR code. This eliminates the need for physical SIM cards and enhances convenience, flexibility, and security for users.

Users with dual-SIM devices can benefit from using an eSIM alongside a physical SIM card. This feature simplifies the process of connecting securely to any local operator while travelling internationally. The move towards eSIM technology represents a step forward in future-proofing mobile connectivity in India.

Seamless Integration and Future Prospects

The partnership between Tata Communications and BSNL is set to transform the way mobile connectivity is experienced in India. By integrating cutting-edge technology into their services, they aim to provide enhanced customer experiences. The use of eSIMs aligns with global trends towards more flexible and secure cellular services.

This collaboration not only benefits individual users but also positions BSNL as a forward-thinking provider in the telecommunications industry. As more users adopt eSIM technology, the demand for such innovative solutions is expected to grow, paving the way for further advancements in mobile communication.

A.S. Lakshminarayanan, MD and CEO, Tata Communications, said: "We are honoured to partner with BSNL to bring secure, scalable, and future-ready eSIM services to millions of citizens and enabling India's shift towards next-generation connectivity. A Robert Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL, stated: "The launch of Pan-India eSIM service represents a strategic advancement in our national telecom capabilities.
