Vi Expands 5G Services to 23 More Cities Across India
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the expansion of its 5G network to 23 additional cities. This phase includes major urban areas such as Ahmedabad, Agra, Aurangabad, Kozhikode, Cochin, Dehradun, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Malappuram, Meerut, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Rajkot, Sonepat, Surat, Siliguri, Trivandrum, Vadodara and Vizag. The rollout will occur incrementally within Vi's priority circles.
Vi is implementing its 5G expansion strategy across 17 key telecom circles where it holds the necessary spectrum. The deployment will be phased. Users with compatible smartphones in these cities can access Vi's 5G services as they become available. As an introductory offer, Vi provides unlimited 5G data on plans starting at Rs 299.

5G Network Expansion Strategy
The company is utilising AI-powered Self-Organising Network (SON) technology to enhance network performance and energy efficiency. Vi has partnered with telecom equipment suppliers Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for seamless integration of its 4G and 5G infrastructure. "This collaboration enables seamless integration of Vi's advanced 4G and 5G infrastructure, reinforcing its focus on sustainability," Vi stated.
"Vi's 5G launch has shown strong momentum. In areas where Vi 5G is live over 70 percent of eligible users have already experienced the benefits of Vi's next-gen network; a clear indicator of positive reception and growing demand," the telco said.
This ongoing rollout is part of a broader strategy to deploy 5G services in priority regions. The expansion aims to cater to increasing demand for high-speed connectivity in urban centres. By leveraging advanced technologies and strategic partnerships with leading equipment providers, Vi seeks to ensure a robust and efficient network infrastructure.
