Vodafone Idea (Vi) Unveils 5G Services in Mumbai with Unlimited Data Plans Starting at Rs. 299
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially launched its 5G services in Mumbai, following months of testing. This move aims to offer better network performance and expand coverage while keeping prices competitive in the growing 5G market.
Vi is focusing on delivering an enhanced mobile experience, especially for data-heavy applications like video streaming, gaming, and video conferencing.

Aiming for Competitive Pricing
Vi’s introductory 5G offer starts at Rs. 299, which includes unlimited 5G data, 1GB of 4G data, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS/day. The company emphasizes that this pricing is meant to be attractive within the current Indian telecom market, where affordable 5G plans are highly sought after. With 5G data becoming more essential for various services, Vi is aiming to position itself as a strong contender in this competitive space.
Network Performance and Upgrades
The rollout in Mumbai is supported by Nokia equipment, ensuring energy efficiency and smooth network performance. To further optimize the 5G network, Vi has introduced an AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) system. This system will help the company better manage network traffic and deliver improved speeds and reliability, especially during peak usage times.
Future Plans and Investments
Vi has been actively investing in network expansion, having raised Rs. 26,000 Crore over the past year, including funds from its Follow-on Public Offer (FPO). The company has also committed to Rs. 50,000-55,000 Crore in capex over the next three years, aiming to extend 4G coverage to 90% of the population and continue rolling out 5G services across India.
With this launch, Vi is taking significant steps to improve its network and offer more reliable, faster services to its users in Mumbai, with plans for further 5G expansion across the country.
