Vodafone to offer 3.5GB and 4.5GB data per day with new plans

Vodafone is keen on competing with Reliance Jio.


With Reliance Jio's entry, the Indian telecom market has witnessed drastic changes and many other operators are coming up with attractive data plans at low cost. Catching up with the competition, Vodafone and Airtel have been trying to offer similar plans has Jio in order to retain their subscribers and give them similar benefits that they can enjoy with Jio.

As per a report by TelecomTalk, Vodafone is gearing up to introduce two prepaid tariff plans priced at Rs. 799 and Rs. 549. These prepaid plans are said to offer similar benefits as the Reliance Jio plans. Vodafone is said to give 3.5GB of data per day with the Rs. 549 plan and 4.5GB of data per day with the Rs. 799 plan. This is just 0.5GB data lesser than the Reliance Jio's plans priced at Rs. 509 and Rs. 799.

The report adds that these tariff plans will go live across the popular circles of Vodafone soon. Along with 3.5GB and 4.5GB of data per day, these plans also provide benefits such as unlimited SMS and voice calls for the whole validity period.

Vodafone's Rs. 799 plan is designed to compete with the Rs. 799 plan that offers 5GB of data per day. As given above, this plan will offer 4.5GB of data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 free SMS per day for 28 days.

The Rs. 549 plan that Vodafone is all set to roll out to its subscribers offers 3.5GB of data per day while Jio's Rs. 509 plan offers 4GB data per day. With a validity of 28 days, this plan offers unlimited voice calls - be it local, STD and roaming. Also, it provides 100 SMS for free per day.

Apart from the unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 3.5GB and 4.5GB data per day, these upcoming Vodafone prepaid plans are said to be bundled with a free subscription to Vodafone Play. However, there major downside is that there is a voice calling FUP with these plans. According to the report, the FUP is 250 minutes of calls per day and 1,000 minutes of calls per week to 300 unique numbers throughout the validity period.
