Apple Watch Ultra 3 Could Launch This Year With 5G, Satellite Messaging, and Blood Pressure Alerts
Apple may be preparing to launch the third-generation Apple Watch Ultra later this year, according to a new product roadmap shared by analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities. If it happens, it will mark two years since the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in 2023, suggesting Apple is sticking to a longer upgrade cycle for its flagship adventure-focused wearable.
The Ultra 3 is expected to be revealed alongside the Apple Watch Series 11 and HomePod 6, potentially during Apple’s September hardware event, where the iPhone 17 series is also likely to debut.

5G and Satellite Messaging May Arrive on the Wrist
One of the standout rumors comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who claims that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could support satellite messaging and 5G connectivity. This combination could give users faster data access when connected to cellular networks, and the ability to send messages even without mobile service—ideal for hikers, divers, and outdoor adventurers who may find themselves in remote or emergency situations.
Apple currently offers satellite messaging on newer iPhones without a subscription fee, so it’s possible the same approach will apply to the Watch Ultra 3.
MediaTek May Power the Cellular Connection
Another change could come under the hood. Some industry speculation points to MediaTek replacing Intel as the modem supplier for future Apple Watches. If that happens, the Ultra 3 could include 5G RedCap, a lighter, energy-efficient version of 5G designed specifically for wearables and low-power devices. This would improve battery life while maintaining reliable connectivity.
Blood Pressure Monitoring May Be Coming
On the health side, the Watch Ultra 3 might debut a blood pressure monitoring feature. While it’s not expected to offer detailed systolic or diastolic readings, the feature may alert users when their pressure levels indicate hypertension, adding to the watch’s broader focus on preventive health tracking.
Should You Wait?
If you're already using the Watch Ultra 2, the decision to upgrade may come down to how much value you place on 5G, satellite messaging, and the potential new health tools.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 launched in India at ₹89,900, and while pricing for the new model hasn’t leaked yet, it’s likely to remain in the same ballpark.
