Huawei Announces Premium Smartwatch With Satellite Messaging Support, the Huawei Watch Ultimate

Huawei announced a new premium smartwatch called the Huawei Watch Ultimate. The smartwatch is only available in China, Europe and the United Kingdom at the moment.

The smartwatch has a 1.4-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a Sapphire glass that protects its dial. The watch has a ceramic bezel surrounding the dial.

Huawei Watch Ultimate Specifications and Features

Huawei claims the smartwatch's case is made of a zirconium-based liquid metal which makes it durable, wear-resistant and corrosion resistant.

The watch also has a waterprotection rating of 10ATM, which means it is suitable for swimming and diving up to 100m. The swatch has a ISO 22810 waterproof standard and EN 13319 Diving Standard certification. It comes with multiple diving modes.

The smartwatch comes with two-way Beidou Satellite messaging support which is only supported in China. The company claims the Huawei Watch Ultimate is the world's first smartwatch to support Beidou messaging on a mass scale.

The smartwatch is said to be compatible with later versions of Harmony OS 2, Android 6.0 and iOS 9.0.

The smartwatch is said to come with multiple sensors such as accelerometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, optical heart rate sensor, air pressure sensor, temperature sensor, ambient light sensor, and depth sensor.

For calls via Bluetooth, it has a microphone and a speaker. Huawei also claims the device comes with over 20 professional sports modes and over 100 basic sports modes.

For health tracking, it comes with a sleep tracker, heart rate tracker, SpO2 tracker and also measures skin temperature.

It runs on a 530mAh battery, which can last up to 14 days on general usage, and 8 days on heavy usage. It comes with Qi fast charge support.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS L1/L5, GALILEO E1/E5a, QZSS L1/L5 dual-frequency, NFC, Two-way Beidou satellite messages, which only works in China.

It measures 48.5 x 48.5 x 13mm and weighs 76g.

Huawei Watch Ultimate Price and Availability

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is available for a price of 5,999 yuan (approximately ₹72,215) for the Expedition Black variant with a rubber strap. The Voyage Blue edition which is available with a metallic strap is available for 6,999 yuan (approximately ₹84,315).

Huawei has announced that the smartwatch will be available in two regions at the moment. It will be available in China from March 30 and the United Kingdom and Europe from April 3.
