IFA 2015: Asus ZenWatch 2 Announced, Supports Android and iOS Devices

Asus today announced that ZenWatch 2, a personalized wearable device powered by Android Wear and will be available in Europe in October starting at €149 (approx Rs. 11,000). It comes is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon400 processor, and compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

ZenWatch 2 will be available in two sizes and three stainless-steel case colors, 18 different strap material and color combinations, more than 50 instantly-changeable watch faces, and the new FaceDesigner smartphone app.

The ZenWatch 2 features a built-in pedometer that provides step-counting accuracy to give wearers a clear and precise picture of their activity level.

Further, this device features a durable stainless-steel case available in two sizes and three attractive colors - Silver, Gunmetal, and Rose Gold. It is made from tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches and damage.

Also, it is available with a wide range of straps in a variety of materials and colors for further personalization. A tough yet supple rubber strap comes in Blue, Orange, Red, and Taupe colors.

A soft, premium leather strap is available in Khaki, Brown, Gray, Blue, and Orange colors, providing an elegant look that fits any situation. A stainless-steel link bracelet comes in Silver, Gunmetal, or Rose Gold.

ASUS has also partnered with Swarovski Professional to produce a gorgeous leather strap with an embossed diamond pattern accented with Swarovski crystals.

Powered by the latest version of Android Wear, ASUS ZenWatch 2 is a smart assistant for Android and iOS smartphones that provides wearers with a convenient, at-a-glance view of incoming calls, messages, notifications, and other important information without having to remove their phone from their pocket or bag.

ZenWatch 2 comes with a wide-range of software features, including ASUS ZenUI apps, Business Helper, FoneHelper, Remote Camera, and ZenWatch Message.

This smartwatch comes with ZenUI on ASUS smartphones, with options such as What's Next and Do It Later. What's Next keeps wearers informed of important information as they need to know it, such as details of their next upcoming appointment or the weather at their next destination.

Do It Later lets wearers defer events such as incoming phone calls and messages by automatically adding them to a list of reminders, so they can stay focused on their current task.

Meanwhile, the ZenWatch 2 introduces Business Helper, a suite of features to assist wearers with common business-related tasks, such as checking their agendas, managing email, and viewing their call logs.

In addition to Business Helper, ZenWatch 2 comes with an improved version of FoneHelper, a collection of features - including Quick Settings, Cover to Mute, Unlock My Phone, and Forgot Phone Warning - designed to provide a more convenient and enjoyable smartphone experience.

Additionally, the Remote Camera lets wearers display their smartphone's camera viewfinder on their ZenWatch 2. This frees them to take photos from creative angles where the viewfinder would be difficult to see, such as when holding their phone overhead at a concert or other crowded event.

Remote Camera has been improved for ZenWatch 2, offering faster performance, greater range, the ability to switch between the phone's front and rear cameras, and zoom capability.

In addition to software improvements, ZenWatch 2 comes with an enhanced battery that provides up to two days of use on a single charge.

An all-new magnetic charger effortlessly attaches to ZenWatch 2 and provides 35% faster battery recharge times than the original ASUS ZenWatch.

It takes just 36 minutes to charge ZenWatch 2 from zero to 50% capacity - enough power for a full day of use. For even longer usage times, the optional ASUS Chargeback power bank accessory is also available.

Its IP67 water-resistant case is impervious to sweat, so wearers can use ZenWatch 2 to track even their most vigorous workouts.

A new workout coaching feature tracks a variety of activity types - including walking, running, push-ups, and sit-ups - and lets wearers set goals for each workout.

It displays daily and weekly activity summaries, presented as attractive, easy-to-understand timelines and charts to help wearers track their progress and stay motivated to achieve personal fitness goals.
