New Apple Watch models could have 15% larger display: Analyst

Kuo believes that the 2018 Apple Watch models will have a revamped design.

Apple Watch Series 4 is expected to launch in Q3 this year. Speculations are being made, as the rumor mill has started churning out details about Apple's next generation Apple Watch model. KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo has recently predicted that the new watches will have larger displays and other wanted features.

New Apple Watch models could have 15% larger display: Analyst

What's interesting is that Apple Watch has had the same design since the first generation. However, it seems like things are about to change. Kuo believes that the 2018 Apple Watch models will have a revamped design with approximately 15% larger display. The size of the chassis could remain the same (38mm and 42mm), but the bezels around the display will be thinner.

Unfortunately, the KGI Securities analyst has not provided the details regarding the design changes expected on the Apple Watch Series 4. Hopefully, he will unveil more in the coming days.

According to Kuo (via 9to5mac), who is considered the most accurate Apple predictor, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch will pack larger battery and enhanced health features. However, the larger display could affect the battery life. So even if the battery is more powerful, it won't last long owing to the larger display size and new health features. The Watch Series 4 could also retain the same battery size as its predecessor.

Finally Kuo expects that Apple could sell up to 50 million units of Apple Watch a year because of the 2018 models. The Watch Series 4 is likely to launch alongside the new iPhone models.

Late last year, there were reports claiming that the Cupertino-giant is working on an Apple Watch model with a built-in EKG heart monitor. Apple is currently prepping an advanced heart-monitoring feature that would be compatible with future models of the Apple Watch smartwatch, but not with the current ones; further explained the report.

Apple Watch smartwatch has a built-in basic heart monitor already. However, addition of the EKG heart monitor would take the device's functionality to the next level. EKG monitor helps in diagnosing a variety of cardiac problems.
