OnePlus Watch 3 Tipped To Launch On January 7 Featuring ECG and Wrist Temperature Sensor

Rumours suggest that the OnePlus Watch 3 will launch alongside the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R on January 7. This new smartwatch will succeed the OnePlus Watch 2. Recent leaks from Android Authority have revealed significant details about the upcoming device.

The OHealth app, a companion for the OnePlus smartwatch, has been examined by Android Authority. Their APK teardown of version 4.30.11_e27d199_241122 indicates several new features are on the horizon for the OnePlus Watch 3.

ECG Functionality and Health Monitoring

The OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to support ECG functionality, which can detect atrial fibrillation, irregular heart rates, frequent PVCs and PACs, sinus rhythm, and more. The ECG feature will be accessible directly on the watch itself.

A screenshot reveals that your phone must meet specific criteria to use ECG in the OHealth app. It should have at least 4GB RAM and 1GB storage, run Android 9 or higher, and possess a display resolution of at least 1,600 x 720 pixels.

Additional Health Features

A wrist temperature sensor will also be included in the upcoming OnePlus smartwatch. Users need to wear it while sleeping for five days with one session lasting over four hours to set it up properly.

Another anticipated feature is a quick health assessment called the "60-second Checkup." This feature evaluates three primary health risks: heart health, blood vessel elasticity, and sleep snoring using seven indicators like blood oxygen levels and vascular age.

OHealth App Enhancements

The OHealth app will introduce a new health tab featuring Health Insights and Health Journey sections. Health Insights will provide detailed information while Health Journey will track daily workouts and health events.

The report further added that some of the new features might eventually become available on older models like the OnePlus Watch 2. However, they are expected to debut with the OnePlus Watch 3 series first.

Additionally, there may be a Pro version of the watch. However, there's no official confirmation exists regarding these details yet; thus, it's advisable to take this as a hint until further announcements are made.
