Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Glasses Go on Sale in India Starting at Rs. 39,900

Ray-Ban and Meta have finally brought their second-generation smart glasses to India. These were first introduced globally in September, but Indian buyers had to wait until now to get their hands on them.

Meta says this new version fixes some of the most common complaints from Gen 1 users, mainly around camera performance and battery life, while adding more styles and colour options.

Price and Availability in India

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Glasses start at Rs. 39,900 in India. You can choose between three frame styles: Headliner, Skyler, and Wayfarer. Meta and Ray-Ban are also offering a few seasonal colours like Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet, and Shiny Asteroid Grey.

They’re available directly through the Ray-Ban India website, major optical stores, and other eyewear retailers starting December 2. Meta hasn’t said yet whether buyers in India will be able to customise them with prescription, sun, polarised, or Transitions lenses, something a lot of users will probably ask for as adoption grows.

What’s New in the Design and Camera

Meta says the overall design hasn’t changed much from the first generation. You still get the compact look, the familiar cutouts on the front, and an LED recording indicator next to the camera. What has changed is the hardware behind that lens.

The glasses now include a 12-megapixel camera that can shoot videos in up to 3K resolution at 30fps. Photo resolution stays at 3024 x 4032 pixels. Meta also confirmed that slow-motion and hyperlapse modes will arrive later through software updates.

The LED light still turns on while recording, which keeps the visual cue from the previous generation intact. According to Meta, users wanted clearer video quality and better low-light performance, which influenced this upgrade.

Features Focused on Calls and Audio

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Glasses also bring improvements on the audio side. There’s an updated five-microphone array designed to cut background noise and sharpen voice clarity during calls.

Meta is also pushing a new feature called Conversation Focus, which uses the glasses’ open-ear speakers to raise the volume of the person you’re talking to. It’s meant for noisy environments, where normal conversation can get drowned out.

These small updates show how Meta is trying to make the glasses feel useful beyond capturing videos or answering basic prompts.

Battery Life Sees the Biggest Jump

Battery life was a major limitation on the first generation, so Meta is promising a meaningful upgrade here. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Glasses can now run for up to eight hours on a single charge, depending on how you use the camera. The charging case adds about 48 hours more, which should make a noticeable difference for people who plan to use these throughout the day.

Meta says the stronger battery was one of the most requested improvements, especially from creators and commuters.
