Samsung Gear S4 watch straps to have integrated battery, suggests patent
It looks like Samsung is in plans to enhance the quality of its smartwatch lineup tipping that the company is not going to give up on the wearable market segment for now.

A set of patents filed by Samsung in December 2017 have hit the web via LetsGoDigital that also come up with a set of patents filed for the use of a double-sided display on future smartphones. The patents filed last month show some of the interesting features that Samsung is in plans to introduce in some of the upcoming smartwatches including the Gear S4.
Of these new features, the most important one appears to be the improved battery life that will make the smartwatch users rejoice. Samsung could be in plans to see watch straps those are integrated with a battery. The batteries those will be used by the company should be flexible and very thin in order to be housed within the straps.
The patent application points out at the possibility of including not one but two batteries positioned on one on each side of the watch strap. With the addition of two batteries, the watch straps will not be limited to just a few materials. Eventually, the customers can choose from various types of strap materials such as leather, rubber, polymer or fiber.
As the battery will be moved from the smartwatch to the watch strap, there will be room for the company to include other components. And, Samsung is expected to add a camera, proximity sensor, heart rate sensor, infrared sensor, and a fingerprint or lighting sensor.
The other new feature to expect in the upcoming Samsung Gear S4 and other Samsung smartwatches is the inclusion of a rotating bezel with sub-display. Whenever a user rotates it, the user can gain access to a different menu.
The features seen on the latest patents filed by Samsung appear to be very interesting but we are yet to see if all these features will get to see the light of the day in the upcoming smartwatch models. It will be quite interesting to see how many of these new features will be included in the Gear S4 that will be launched by the company in the near future.
