Sony WH-1000XM6 Arrives in India: ₹39,990 Headphones With Faster Noise Cancelling and Studio-Tuned Sound

Sony has introduced the WH-1000XM6 headphones in India, the latest in its 1000X series known for premium audio and noise cancelling. Priced at ₹39,990, the new model will be available in Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue across Sony Centers, major retail stores, and Amazon.

Noise Cancelling Gets a Boost

The WH-1000XM6 builds on the success of the XM5, bringing faster processing and more microphones into play. Sony says its new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 is seven times faster than before and works with 12 microphones to adapt to different environments. That could mean a quieter commute, better focus in the office, or simply less distraction in everyday use.

Sound Tuned With Studio Engineers

For audio, Sony collaborated with mastering engineers from studios like Sterling Sound and Battery Studios. The headphones use new drivers and a carbon fiber dome to improve clarity and detail across frequencies. High-resolution audio is supported, along with LDAC for wireless playback. There’s also AI-powered upscaling of compressed files, which tries to restore detail lost in streaming.

Features for Music, Movies, and Games

The WH-1000XM6 adds features for different kinds of entertainment. A cinema upmix mode expands stereo sound into spatial audio for movie watching, while gamers get a dedicated EQ profile borrowed from Sony’s INZONE lineup. The Sony | Sound Connect app also lets users tweak a 10-band EQ or fine-tune ambient sound controls.

Clearer Calls and Everyday Use

Call quality is another focus. The headphones use a six-microphone beamforming system with AI noise reduction to isolate voices, making conversations clearer even in noisy places. On the design side, the XM6 looks familiar but brings a wider headband with vegan leather padding, lighter earcups, and a folding mechanism built for portability.

Smarter Listening

A new “Scene-based Listening” feature automatically adjusts noise cancellation and playback depending on what you’re doing and where you are. Quick Access shortcuts connect directly to services like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, while support for LE Audio and Auracast ensures lower latency for gaming and shared listening experiences.

Battery and Charging

Battery life remains a strong point. A quick three-minute charge gives up to three hours of playback, and the headphones can also play while charging.

Sustainability

Like other recent Sony models, the WH-1000XM6 ships in 100% paper packaging made from recycled and plant-based fibers.
