Amazfit Balance 2 Review: A Premium Smartwatch Built for Serious Fitness
The Amazfit Balance 2 arrived in India in September as a premium smartwatch aimed squarely at serious athletes. Unlike typical budget-friendly fitness wearables, the Balance 2 offers a larger, more sophisticated design paired with advanced training features and health insights.
Priced at Rs 24,999, it isn't the most affordable option, but it promises a high-end experience backed by robust hardware and intelligent software. The real question is-do these features translate into meaningful real-world performance? Let's find out.
- Rugged Build, Premium Design
- Excellent Battery Life
- Accurate Fitness and GPS Tracking
- Clear Dual-Speaker Audio
- Bright, Durable AMOLED Display
- Comprehensive Training Features
- No LTE Connectivity
- Voice Assistant Sluggish
- App Requires Optimizing

Design & Build
You get the watch body, two silicone straps, and a charging pod in the box. The Amazfit Balance 2 delivers an impressive mix of rugged durability and everyday elegance. Despite its large 47mm size, it feels remarkably light and comfortable for all-day wear, whether you're at the gym or in the office. The aluminium chassis adds a premium touch, while the sapphire crystal glass over the 1.5-inch display provides flagship-level scratch resistance, remaining spotless throughout testing.
Durability is a major highlight. The upgrade to 10ATM water resistance allows the watch to handle swimming, submersion up to 100 metres, and even recreational dives up to 45 metres, a rare capability at this price. Military-grade certification further underscores its readiness for tough environments and outdoor activities.

Design details like the subtle, blue-tinted ring around the display give the smartwatch a distinct character. Amazfit includes two 22mm silicone straps that are lightweight and breathable, though attaching them takes a moment. Once fitted, they sit comfortably and complement the overall industrial look. The rotating crown and knurled secondary button offer smooth, tactile control, making navigation intuitive. The only minor drawback is the lack of customisable long-press functionality on the lower button.
The Amazfit Balance 2 doesn't compromise when it comes to visuals. The sapphire glass panel houses a 1.5-inch AMOLED display capable of hitting a stunning 2,000 nits peak brightness. Even under direct sunlight, the screen is crisp, legible, and vibrant. The bezels are thin enough to give an expansive look without overwhelming the watch's size.

Unlike many sports-centric watches, the Balance 2 also integrates lifestyle functions seamlessly. You can take and make calls directly from the dial using its dual built-in speakers, which deliver surprisingly clear sound. The ability to text and manage notifications straight from the watch elevates its utility, making it more than just a fitness companion.
Display
The Amazfit Balance 2 features a 1.5-inch circular AMOLED display with a sharp 480×480 resolution and 323 ppi pixel density, delivering crisp visuals and vibrant colours. Protected by premium sapphire glass, similar to what you'd find on high-end Garmin models, the screen offers exceptional durability and scratch resistance.
With a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, the display remains easily readable even under harsh sunlight, while automatic brightness adjustment ensures comfortable viewing in all lighting conditions. Although the bezels are slightly noticeable, touch response is smooth and accurate during everyday use.

The display also helps elevate the watch's lifestyle functionality, enabling clear on-wrist calling, messaging, and notification management through its built-in dual speakers, making the Balance 2 both a capable fitness tool and a practical daily companion.
Performance & Features
The Balance two sports over 170 sports modes, while also offering heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation, stress and sleep tracking, and menstrual health tracking, all of which is possible thanks to the array of sensors on the back (BioTracker 6.0). Moreover, it also comes with dual-band GPS and a new BioCharge feature, but more on that later.
I tested the Balance 2 in various light weightlifting exercises, while cycling, playing football, and running on the treadmill. The Balance 2 tracked activity accurately, displaying detailed information about each workout on the app, matching results from my Fitbit Versa 4.

The Balance 2 is the first smartwatch to support HYROX training, blending running with functional exercises, a boon for fitness enthusiasts. It also offers competition modes for serious athletes, scuba diving capabilities for adventurers, and downloadable maps for over 40,000 golf courses. The built-in GPS, though a little slow to lock on, delivers accurate tracking for outdoor pursuits like running, walking, and cycling, making the Balance 2 a truly versatile sports companion.
The Zepp app enhances the Balance 2 experience with detailed health insights, BioCharge scores, and the premium Aura sleep assessment tool. BioCharge analyses sleep quality, rest, HRV, and daily activity to estimate your energy levels for workouts and everyday tasks. Aura, available with a 14-day free trial, offers in-depth sleep analysis and personalised recommendations.

Based on my earlier experience with it, Aura is especially helpful for users looking to improve their overall sleep quality. The Balance 2 delivers reliable performance across workouts, with heart-rate readings closely matching a dedicated monitor even during interval training.
GPS accuracy is equally impressive, often aligning with my phone's tracking. Amazfit's Zepp Coach adds value with AI-driven training plans for 5K, 10K, and marathon runners. Backed by a full suite of sensors, including a barometric altimeter, compass, accelerometer, and thermometer, the watch effectively captures every movement and supports serious athletes with precise, consistent data.

The Amazfit Balance 2 features a rare dual-speaker setup, delivering louder and fuller audio than most smartwatches. This enhances Bluetooth calling by keeping voices clear even in moderately noisy environments, though a connected smartphone is still required since LTE support is not yet available. The improved speakers also make interactions with the Zepp Flow AI assistant smoother and post-workout summaries easier to hear.
Software
You can check basic fitness data directly on the smartwatch, but the Zepp app is needed for detailed weekly, monthly, and yearly insights. Available on Android and iOS, it offers a clear breakdown of health and activity stats. I used it on the Pixel 10 Pro, and the experience was nearly the same as on an iPhone during my Amazfit Bip 6 review. On Android, the app enables extra features like message replies and Zepp Flow, Amazfit's AI voice assistant. It works well for general commands, though it's slightly slower than Google Gemini and requires an internet connection.

The app's layout is visually engaging with interactive cards, though I encountered a minor issue where accessing daily sleep breakdowns required switching to the Sleep tab. Both the watch and app provide a BioCharge score that reflects your overall readiness. The app also supports Aura, a premium sleep-tracking tool with a 14-day trial, along with watch face customisation, notification controls, and app downloads.
Battery
The Amazfit Balance 2 packs a large 658mAh battery, rated for up to 21 days of typical use. With continuous health tracking, always-on display, GPS during workouts, and regular notifications, I averaged around 15 days per charge, which is still excellent compared to many premium smartwatches that struggle to last a full day. Charging takes roughly 2-2.5 hours using the included Type-C magnetic dock. Overall, the battery life and charging experience are strong, especially for a watch with such a big battery.
Verdict
The Amazfit Balance 2 strikes an excellent balance between premium design and serious athletic performance. Its rugged build, bright AMOLED display, accurate health tracking, and wide range of workout modes make it a strong choice for fitness-focused users. Features like dual speakers, Zepp Flow voice assistance, and on-wrist calling also add meaningful lifestyle convenience.

While the companion app can feel a bit busy and LTE connectivity is still missing, these drawbacks are easy to overlook considering the impressive battery life and advanced training tools like BioCharge, Zepp Coach, and HYROX support. At ₹24,999, it delivers solid value for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a durable smartwatch that can confidently keep up with both their workouts and everyday routines.
