Boat Airdopes 800: Design & Fit

The unboxing experience is better than any other in the market and for the Boat Airdopes 800 True Wireless Earbuds you'll find well-organized packaging in book shape. Each item is properly packed, including a one-year brand warranty card, a user manual detailing the product, a type-C charging cable of adequate length, a Boat sticker, and extra ear tips to fit different ear sizes.

The main product itself comes in a slightly bulky charging case made of material featuring a combination of matte and gloss finish which surprisingly doesn't catch as many fingerprints of the bat. The front has a clear mention of Dolby audio support, a battery indicator light, and a type-C charging port on the side. There is no button provided outside of the case.

The build of the charging case is sturdy. It is made of hard plastic but definitely feels chunky. Personally, I like my cases to be slim and sleek, the kind that doesn't bulge out of my jeans or feel like it's about to pop off. Anyway, the case on the inside has a reset button and an auto-lock feature. The Instant Wake and Pair technology works well for establishing connections with the last paired device. They fit securely in your ears, providing a good seal that cancels out about 70-80% of outside noise passively. The buds stay put even during casual activities, making them a reliable option.

Boat Airdopes 800: Boat Hearable App & Dolby
The app is pretty slick with a modern vibe. You've got the sound touch and system menu right at the top, making it super easy to navigate. The adaptive EQ is a cool feature-it tweaks the sound based on your ear's unique setup using sound personalization. Plus, you can easily adjust the adaptive EQ settings to your liking.

There are also a few genre presets like balanced, pop, rock, jazz, and club, which is a nice touch. Overall, the adaptive EQ does a solid job at tuning the sound. My only gripe is that there's no multiband EQ for full control. It would be awesome to have that extra level of customization.

That being said, the Dolby Audio features are fantastic. You get Natural and Movie modes, and they really add an extra dimension to the sound. Movie mode, in particular, gives a fuller, bassier experience. Honestly, I'd recommend keeping the Dolby modes on all the time, whether you're listening to music or watching content. It's like the icing on the cake!

Boat Airdopes 800: Gaming Test
The Airdopes 800 has a beast mode which is a slang for gaming mode with a claimed 50ms latency. I tested BGMI and Call of Duty and the latency was around 50-60ms. Although the sound was loud and clear to detect the footsteps and direction where they were coming from, for me anything above 40ms just doesn't quite cut it. For regular gameplay and competitive as always I would recommend a solid set of wired earphones/headphones however for casual gaming, the Airdopes 800 might do the job for you.

Boat Airdopes 800: Music & Bass Experience
Boat has always been all about that bass, and the Airdopes 800 definitely keep that tradition going strong. They've got the bass cranked up, which I totally dig since I'm big on HipHop, Trap, and Post Rock. Having that deep, thumping bass is exactly what I'm after.
The stems on these earbuds are noticeably longer than usual. From a style perspective, I get that opinions might be all over the place. But, the longer stems actually make a difference in call quality and make the touch controls way more accurate. The flat stems really help with that.

The 10mm titanium-coated drivers on the earbuds support SBC and AAC codecs. I was genuinely surprised by how loud the Airdopes 800 can get with just a 10mm driver. Typically, I go for TWS with 11mm+ drivers, but these really caught me off guard in a good way. The loudness is more than adequate, especially when compared to other 10mm TWS on the market, and there's no distortion even at full volume. Plus, there's minimal sound leakage even when you're cranking them up to 80-90%.
In terms of sound quality, the detailing, vocal clarity, and instrumental separation are decent. However, since these earbuds have a bass-heavy profile, the mids and vocals can sometimes feel a bit overshadowed.
Boat Airdopes 800: Calling Test
I conducted a call test in normal and traffic conditions. In normal conditions, the voice clarity was adequately clear and minimal distortion. In traffic conditions, the background noise was significantly reduced, and the voice remained clear, making it a good option for calls in various environments. Remember? The longer stem? It came in handy to make things easier for the Airdopes 800.

Verdict
The Boat Airdopes 800 packs a lot of punch for its price. A solid content consumption experience, in-ear detection, decent calling experience and dual device pairing. While ANC is not present on these TWS it comes in as a blessing in disguise, enhancing the overall battery performance and the competitive pricing, especially with Dolby Audio, makes it a worthwhile choice. I highly recommend giving them a try.
Based on my personal experience and the price point of ₹1,799, here are my ratings:
Sound Quality: 8/10
Bass Quality: 8/10
Call Quality: 7/10
Gaming Experience: 6/10
Battery: 8/10
