In the ever-expanding smartwatch market, a plethora of options exist, catering to various budgets - from highly affordable choices to premium ones that rival the cost of smartphones. With new players entering the market, now is an ideal time for first-time buyers to discover a smartwatch that seamlessly blends style and functionality. Enter Gizmore, an Indian brand that emerged in 2018 with a mission to bring cutting-edge consumer technology within everyone's reach. Today, we have the chance to explore the Gizmore Curve smartwatch - a device that not only flaunts an eye-catching design but also comes at a budget-friendly price.

I've had the privilege of testing this smartwatch for a couple of weeks, and now, I'm excited to share my thoughts on it.

Design & Build: Looks & Feels Premium

Undoubtedly, the best aspect of the Gizmore Curve smartwatch is its design. Personally, I prefer circular smartwatches as they resemble traditional timepieces rather than the ones resembling an Apple Watch.

In my case, I received the watch in a striking Green color that beautifully complements the gold-painted metal body. This Green and Gold combination truly makes the watch stand out and effortlessly complements various outfits for outdoor occasions. Besides Green, there are other color options available: Black, for those who prefer a clean and understated look, and Grey and Pink for those seeking more variety.

I particularly appreciate the clean appearance of the watch, featuring just a single rotating crown on the right side and no other distracting elements. Moreover, the slim metal body adds to its charm, making it comfortable to wear throughout the day without causing any wrist fatigue.

Another noteworthy point is that the straps do not emit any weird smell, even after wearing the watch for an entire day or during workouts. Additionally, the Gizmore Curve smartwatch comes with IP67 dust and water resistance, offering added peace of mind. You need not fret about the watch getting wet or encountering dust, provided you clean it thoroughly afterward.

Overall, considering the price, the build quality is impressive, and the unique design of the Gizmore Curve smartwatch makes it one of my personal favorites.

Display: Crisp & Bright

The Gizmore Curve boasts a 1.39-inch HD display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. During my testing, I found the display to be adequately bright for both indoor and outdoor use. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the viewing angles. While the display is good for its price range, it requires getting the watch closer to your face when using it outside, as the viewing angles are not very impressive.

On the positive side, the watch's resolution is decent, resulting in sharp and clear text and UI elements.

Regarding the display size, I personally found it to be perfect for my needs. Although the bezels are thick, the generous display size compensates for it, making the smartwatch enjoyable to use.

Performance: Par For The Course

During my few weeks of testing, the Gizmore Curve smartwatch performed admirably. I experienced no stutters or lag while navigating the user interface, and the watch efficiently met all my demands.

One of the standout features is the wide range of sports modes available for various workout sessions. Whether it's walking, running, hiking, cycling, basketball, swimming, yoga, or other activities, the smartwatch has you covered.

The dedicated Activity Menu presents multiple categories like athletics, dance, fitness, gymnastics, martial arts, and more. Simply select one, and the watch will record your BPM (heart rate) and calories burnt in real time.

I primarily used the workout mode to monitor my heart rate and calories burnt. While I wouldn't say the watch's data is 100% accurate, it provides essential information when needed, which is satisfactory for me.

The sleep tracker also works effectively, displaying the hours of sleep, the amount of deep sleep, and light sleep metrics. Similarly, the heart rate sensor proves reliable in its functionality.

However, there is a stress tracker, which leaves me a bit puzzled. The watch provides stress numbers, but there is no explanation of what these numbers signify. It would have been helpful if Gizmore included an informative section explaining these terms for better understanding.

Speaker & Call Quality: Does The Job

The Gizmore Curve comes equipped with a mono speaker that, I must admit, packs quite a punch when it comes to volume. It's capable of getting quite loud, making it convenient for taking calls on the smartwatch when you can't reach your phone for some reason. While I wouldn't claim that these are the best speakers ever installed in a smartwatch, they do the job well when you're in a tight spot. Additionally, you can also enjoy listening to music on the smartwatch, and the overall experience is decent.

Battery Life: Pretty Average

During my weeks of testing, I found that the Gizmore Curve smartwatch typically lasts for about four days on a single charge. This is with the brightness set to medium, sleep tracking enabled, and minimal use of Bluetooth calling. The battery life aligns well with other smartwatches in the same category, offering a reasonable duration between charges.

As for charging, the watch impresses with its fast charging capability. It goes from 0% to 100% in under two hours, ensuring that you spend less time waiting and more time using the device.

Software: Packs the Essentials

The software performance of the Gizmore Curve smartwatch is generally smooth and responsive. Its clean-looking menu makes navigation across the user interface (UI) a breeze. However, one area that could use improvement is the lack of descriptive elements within the UI.

As mentioned earlier, the stress tracker provides a numerical measurement of stress levels, but it fails to offer an explanation of what the number actually signifies. Users are left in the dark, uncertain whether the number indicates low or high-stress levels. To address this, I recommend that Gizmore includes informative tips in the UI to provide users with a clear understanding of the features.

Moving on to the app experience, the JYouPro app, which facilitates the watch's connection with the phone, feels somewhat cumbersome. Although it does function and displays data, the overall fit and finish, as well as the user experience (UX), could benefit from improvement to provide a more seamless and enjoyable experience.

Another area worth mentioning is the limited selection of watch faces. Expanding the variety of watch faces would be advantageous, or Gizmore could consider integrating a third-party watch market to offer users a wide array of watch face options. On a positive note, users can create their own watch faces, allowing for customization and the addition of complications, such as step count and heart rate data.

Should You Get The Gizmore Curve?

In a market flooded with cheap smartwatches that offer similar functionalities to the Gizmore Curve, one might wonder why they should invest in this particular model. The answer lies in its stunning and sleek design, setting it apart as one of the most aesthetically pleasing smartwatches available. Additionally, the crisp and bright display, along with essential features like a decent-sounding speaker and good call quality, add to its appeal.
