You Can Now Animate Your Facebook Profile Picture and Restyle Stories - Here's How
Meta has started rolling out new features on Facebook that let you express yourself in more creative ways on your profile picture, photos, Feed posts, and Stories. Check all the new features and how to use them:
Animate Your Profile Picture – Here's How
Facebook now lets users animate their profile picture, turning a still photo into a playful animation in seconds. You can choose from preset animations – like natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart.

To get the best results, you need to use a photo that features a single person facing the camera with their face clearly visible and not holding other objects. One can select photos to animate directly from your camera roll or choose photos that have already been uploaded to Facebook. Once a photo is animated, you can share it to your feed and view it on your profile. How to make an animated profile picture:
- First click on profile picture and then animated profile picture
- Now, use available preset
- Then you can save it or also share it to your feed.
Restyle Your Stories and Memories
Now, Restyle lets you transform the aesthetic of an image in Facebook Stories and Memories using preset style options or your own text-based AI prompt. Facebook will also recommend Memories with Restyle options in Stories. Here's how to use it:
- Upload a photo to Stories or view your Memories to share on Stories
- Now, tap Restyle or use Meta AI to change things up how you want, or pick from Styles (like anime or illustrated), Moods (like glowy), Lighting (like ethereal), Colors (like cool or pink), and Backdrops (like beach or cityscape)
- Then click on share option
Share Scroll-Stopping Text Posts to Your Feed
Now, you can add an animated backdrop to your Feed text posts, making them more fun and expressive. Here's how to use it:
- First write the text you want to post
- Now, tap the rainbow A icon
- Then select from multiple still and animated backgrounds like falling leaves or ocean waves
- After that, click on Done to share the post
