Exclusive: LG To Unveil a New Optimus Smartphone in India Next Week
According to a inside resource from the Korean phone maker, we have received a confirmed report that LG is reportedly planning to announce a new smartphone in India by as soon as next week.
Having a look at the smartphones launched by LG in India recently, the list includes Optimus 4X HD, L3, L5 and L7, which were launched in the market during July 2012, it can be said that there is one model that which has not reached the Indian shores, that is, Optimus Vu – released in Korea and Japan only.
Hence, the chances are seeable that LG will unveil its 5 inch smartphone in India soon. Talking about Optimus Vu it was announced ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2012 in February and LG showcased its features in the Barcelona event.
As a standing competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note, LG Optimus Vu has been designed with a stylus pen, powered by a quad core processor.
Moreover in August, LG officially announced that its flagship smartphone – Optimus Vu will be made available in the global markets in September.
While confirming the release of Optimus Vu, Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company was quoted stating, “The different form factor makes Optimus Vu: unique even in the 5-inch smartphone category which we expect will catch on once they become more widely available.”
Hence, going by the earlier reports, LG is expected to release Optimus Vu in the Indian market flooded with many 5 inch devices from manufacturers like Micromax, iBall, Spice and more.
Speaking of the specifications, Optimus Vuwill run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, sporting a 5 inch XGA-IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels.
Further, the international variant of the Optimus Vu will be loaded with a 1.5GHz quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front facing camera.
Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the Optimus Vu have 1GB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB. Also, the smartphone will have a 2,080 mAh Li-ion battery.
Moreover, the device will come packed with connectivity features including HDMI port, DLNA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
