Apple AirPods Pro Now Available For Rs. 24,900 In India; Should You Buy?
The third iteration of Apple's truly wireless earphones -- the AirPods Pro are now available in India. These earphones were originally unveiled in October and they are finally available in India at a much higher price compared to the US pricing.
The AirPods Pro retails for $US 249 (approx Rs. 17,856), whereas the same earphone costs Rs. 24,900 in India. Like almost every Apple product, there is a definite price difference due to the import duties and profit margin as the AirPods Pro cost the on e-commerce websites and Apple authorized stores.
How They Are Different From The Original AirPods
The new AirPods Pro looks a lot different from the first two generations of the AirPods. The new once have a shorter stem and feature an in-ear design alongside active noise cancellation.
The standard case now supports wireless charging and the retail package also ships with three pairs of ear tips. There is a built-in transparency mode that lets users hear the surrounding sound. The company is using two microphones to achieve active noise cancellation, where one of them will hear the external sound and it is being countered with an equal amount of anti-noise.
The carry case doubles as a battery pack, offering up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge and it charges via the lighting port or Qi wireless charging. Each of the earbuds can last up to 4.5 hours on a single charge and a quick charge of 5 minutes can offer a music playback time of 1.5 hours.
Should You Buy One?
It entirely depends on the use case. The Apple AirPods Pro is made to work with Apple products like iPhone, iPad, and MacBooks. As these are based on Bluetooth, they can also be used with an Android phone. However, the overall pairing process with an Android phone will not be as fluid as compared to an iPhone or iPad.
When you pair the AirPods Pro with an iPhone it is likely to offer the best possible experience. If you already own a first-gen or a second-gen AirPods, then the AirPods Pro might be a good upgrade. Especially for those who value portability over cost.
However, if you are looking for a headphone especially for noise cancellation (for using them in flights) then, there are a lot of options in the market, especially in the over-the-head style headphones that offer better sealing and better noise cancellation.
These are definitely for those who already have the latest or the last generation iPhones. For Android users, there are a lot of options that offer better features at a much lower price bracket.
