Well, the Moto Mods are quick and easy to attach and take off. Their main purpose is to add additional features to the smartphones and also expand the battery life of the smartphone. Initially, four Moto Mods were introduced including JBL SoundBoost stereo speaker, Power Pack battery pack, Style Shell, and Insta-Share Projector.
Now, it appears like Lenovo has understood that Moto Mods will be a truly alluring feature if it was incorporated effectively. It seems to have realized that the support offered by 3rd party developers will be beneficial as they will be able to bring about creative ideas.
We say this as the company has announced a developer kit for the Moto Mods and has put up a contest for the coolest Moto Mods with a prize reward of $1,000,000. In fact, Lenovo has revealed a statement that it will focus on launching 12 Mods per year.
As of now, we have seen three more Mods such as Incipio Smart Car Dock that adds different mounting options for the phone in car, Hasselblad True Zoom that adds great optical zoom to the camera, and Mophie Juice Pack that adds an external battery. Of these, only the optical zoom Mod has been made available.
In future, Lenovo seems to be ready to launch a few more Moto Mods. Though there is no confirmation, a few concepts have been leaked online. The list includes,
- Game controller
- LED Light Mod for aesthetics
- 5G Modem
- Measurement tool
- E-reader using front facing speakers
- Alarm clock
- Remote controller
- External storage drive
- Color sensors for visually impaired users
- Baby care mod
In our opinion, the alarm clock mod, external storage mod and game controller mod will definitely be useful for the users. You can leave a comment of the Moto Mods that you will be interested in.
