OnePlus TV Users Can Get New OnePlus Remote For Free: Here’s How

As promised at the launch, OnePlus has finally added support for Netflix for both models of the OnePlus TV. Users can now download the latest software patch from their televisions to experience 4K content on Netflix, given they have a Netflix subscription.

Besides the new software features, the company has started rolling out a newly designed remote and replacing the old remote of the already existing OnePlus users free of cost.

The original OnePlus TV remote looked a lot like the Apple TV remote. However, it received a lot of hatred as it was slippery and the side-mounted volume buttons made this issue even worse. The company will be shipping the newer orders with the newly designed remote. Similarly, already existing OnePlus TV owners can get their free remote by following this procedure.

• Go to OnePlus India website
• Find Your OnePlus TV serial number from Settings > More Settings > About > Status > Serial number
• Verify your serial number using your OnePlus account
• After the verification, OnePlus will give an invitation code
• Redeem the invitation to get your brand new remote

The new OnePlus TV remote is entirely made of plastic with dedicated Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video buttons. Besides, it also has a Google Assistant button accompanied by volume buttons with a dedicated button to select the input method. Overall, it looks a lot like a standard remote that we usually see with smart TVs.

Unlike the original remote, it does not have a built-in battery or a USB Type-C port for charging. Instead, it takes regular AAA batteries and it does retain support for Bluetooth connectivity and there is a dedicated OnePlus button that gives quick access to OxygenPlay. As of now, there is no information on how much OnePlus might charge for the remote post free replacement period.
