Xiaomi Launches DYI Projector That Mind Recap Your Childhood

Xiaomi is known for launching unique tech products and the latest addition to the company's portfolio is something retro yet modern. The do-it-yourself projector from Xiaomi is something that also happens to be a gadget for learners and those who want to relive the past.

Xiaomi Launches DYI Projector That Mind Recap Your Childhood

This is reminiscent of the old-school projectors in the early 90s that were used in cinema halls and theatres which have been now replaced with high-resolution bulb based or laser projectors that offer up to 4K resolution and a wide range of colors (HDR 10) to give an immersive cinematic experience.

Xiaomi claims that the projector is made using German laser cutting technology that ensures precise fitting when assembled properly. It comes in 16 pieces and each of these pieces has been stamped with a number for an easy assembly process.

The final assembled product will be 24.5cm in height and 22cm in width. Unlike a normal projector, it does not use any power source or battery. Instead, it uses physical film and can store up to 58 frames. There is a physical crank on the right side of the device that produces enough power to project the images when rotated using a hand.

Price And Availability

The Xiaomi DYI projector is already on sale in China for 229 Yuan (approx Rs. 2,300) making it a bit of an expensive toy. However, the whole experience of building a toy projector and using it should be a fun process. Plus, it does not use electricity or batteries which makes it eco-friendly.

As of now, there is no information on the launch of the Xiaomi DYI projector in India, at least not in 2019. The company might bring it to India sometime in the future along with additional accessories. Besides being a projector, this could be a great showpiece as well.
