In a recent Twitter post, a developer experience lead at Uber, Chris Messina brought Facebook Messenger's latest feature to the spotlight. In this feature, Messina noticed a topic suggestion box named as 'Conversation Topics' on his iOS app.
Although there isn't any spokesperson to comment on the latest addition, it is quite clear that robots are taking over everything now and this includes controlling the conversations with friends.
The suggested topics have their own dedicated section on the home screen. While, the conversation topic suggestion appears underneath a friend's name in the new section. To the right, the user will find Messenger's activity indicator, which shows when the person was last seen online.
In another case, U.K.-based user Dan Simpson noticed the same feature where his friend was getting conversation suggestions based on Dan's recent activity. For instance, the friend of Dan got suggestions that included the last song he had listened to.
This feature could help users more easily strike up conversations with friends they haven't talked to in a while or someone they've recently befriended and it will also decrease the need to check the main Facebook app. Not every iPhone Messenger application user has noticed this feature as Facebook is testing the same right now.
To recall, Facebook Messenger has recently entered the one-billion-users club. The company has been experimenting with a variety of features to keep its users spending time on its Messenger app
