This new stable update adds various new features like Quick Reply, Multiple Selection and others; ones that were also part of previous beta versions. Here is a list of all the features that WhatsApp for Android brings with its new update.
#1
Probably the biggest feature from this update, Quick Reply, lets you quickly reply to a conversation straight from its notification in your notification bar. Expanding the WhatsApp notification now displays the option of ‘Reply'. Clicking on that opens up a WhatsApp overlay in the form of a pop-up. The overlay shows details like the sender's name, last seen status, default keyboard and even a fitted in emoji tab. It also has two options - Close to remove the popup without replying back and View to open up the whole conversation in the WhatsApp app.
#2
Another one of the main features that are part of this latest WhatsApp update is Multiple selection. In previous updates, starting with material design, users could view profile images of individuals and groups by just tapping on the photo to expand it, from the Chats menu. This also displayed an Info tab that had options like Delete Chat, View Contact, Mute and others. In this update, the image overlay is gone and replaced by the Info menu instead.
As you can see from the screenshots, tapping the photo now automatically opens up the options to Mute, View or Delete. This is a feature that is expected to receive mixed reviews, as some people prefer to view enlarged photos while others prefer shortcuts effectively.
#3
One of the biggest reasons behind the huge success of WhatsApp is its continuous effort to keep the messaging app more fun and engaging. The Facebook-owned app has rolled out another update that will allow text formatting, which means users will now be able to bold or italicize the texts.
This is part of their strategy to enhance the role of WhatsApp as a social media platform, rather than just a personal messaging app. Text formatting enables users to communicate with a better understanding of what the message is aiming to convey.

To download the latest build of WhatsApp for Android, you need to be an official beta tester with the company. Alternatively, you can download the apk file manually via APK Mirror.
