Microsoft Translator app will now work offline as well with the help of AI
Microsoft Translator app will now allow users to download the AI-powered translation packs that will be used in translating a user's query even when the user is offline.
Most of us must have used the language translation apps to make it easy to understand the foreign languages. Most of the Language translator apps work perfectly fine without the requirement of internet connectivity. However when it comes to translating complex sentences that require some kind of natural language processing and cloud-based machine learning algorithms and makes using the internet a compulsion. Well, there is some good news in store for the Microsoft users. As per some reports from the web Microsoft now has removed the internet connectivity limitation and has made an announcement that the app will be powered by AI and no longer will require the internet connection.
As per some reports from the web, the updated version for the Microsoft Translator app will now allow users of Android, iOS and Amazon Fire devices to download the AI-powered translation packs that will be used in translating a user's query even when the user is offline.
Microsoft further claims that the offline translation app is capable of providing high-quality translation output, with as all the translation is said to be following the Neural Machine translation (NMT) standard which is created by Microsoft.
The report further suggests that the updated language packs are available for Arabic, Chinese-Simplified, French, Thai, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese along with additional languages which are currently in the development phase.
Microsoft further has made a claim that the new NMT (Neural Machine translation) packs can produce error-free translations which are said to be up to 23% more accurate and 50% smaller in size. It is also being said that the difference between the online and offline translations are 'barely noticeable'. Apart from the users, the developers will also be able to use the Translator's newly found capabilities by integrating the app's online/offline translation capabilities into their apps.
When the app is offline, the local NMT language packs will be used to deliver the translated text to their app. If the users are online, the translation Query will be directed to the Microsoft Translator service on Azure in order to retrieve the present translated text. The app is currently in the preview stage and is said to be released in the next 90 days via a stable channel.
