Netflix is cracking down on password sharing in India. The streaming giant recently shared its plans to combat password sharing on its platform in the country.
Netflix already began cracking down on password sharing across different regions earlier this year. In the US, Netflix sign-ups surged as the streaming giant began its crackdown. Now, Netflix has sent emails to its subscribers in India about its new password sharing policy.

Netflix India Password Sharing: What to Do?
In an official statement, Netflix said, "Starting today, we will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in India." The emails emphasize that Netflix accounts are intended to be used strictly within a single household.
The streaming giant added; "Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are - at home, on the go, on holiday - and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices." Netflix said that it sent out emails to subscribers sharing their accounts outside their household.

Netflix subscribers in India can use features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices to use Netflix on the go or during a holiday or in the case of switching to a new house. "We recognize that our members have many entertainment choices."
Netflix India said, "It is why we continue to invest heavily in a wide variety of new films and TV shows - so whatever your taste, mood or language and whoever you are watching with, there is always something satisfying to watch on Netflix."
Why is Password Sharing on Netflix ending?
The crackdown of password sharing in India comes as no surprise. Back in May 2023, the streaming giant-imposed restrictions on password-sharing in over 100 countries. This crackdown added around six million subscribers to the platform globally.
According to earning analysis (via NDTV), Netflix finished the recently ended quarter (Q2 2023) with 238 million subscribers and a profit of $1.5 billion. Netflix is also expected to add six million subscribers this quarter and is expected to see an acceleration in revenue in the second half of 2023.
