Snapchat Introduces Message Editing, New Emoji Reactions, and AI Features in Latest Update
Snapchat, the popular messaging app developed by Snap Inc., has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 9 million subscribers for its premium service, Snapchat+. In addition to this achievement, Snap has announced plans to introduce a range of new features aimed at enhancing user experience within the app.
Chat Editing Feature Coming Soon One of the most awaited updates is the introduction of a chat editing feature, allowing Snapchat+ subscribers to edit their messages within a five-minute window after sending. This feature aims to provide users with the flexibility to correct typos and make other adjustments to their chats. Edited messages will be clearly labeled as such, offering transparency in communication.

Enhanced Emoji Reactions and AI-Powered Features Snapchat is also expanding its emoji reactions for chats, moving beyond Bitmoji to include any emoji. Additionally, the app is embracing AI technology with new features such as the My AI assistant for setting reminders and an AI lens for creating 1990s-themed selfies. The popularity of these updates is evident, with nearly 40 million Snaps created using the 90s AI Lens within just four days of its launch.
Map Reactions Feature Another addition is the introduction of map reactions, allowing users to initiate conversations through Snap Map with gestures like waves or hearts. This feature enhances user interactions and adds a new dimension to location sharing within the app.
Availability of New Features While specific timelines for the rollout of these features have not been disclosed, Snapchat typically debuts new functions to its subscription service before a broader rollout. The chat editing feature is expected to be available first to Snapchat+ subscribers, echoing similar feature paywalls seen in other platforms.
