Twitter Introduces 'Hide Replies' Feature To Avoid Unwanted Comments
Twitter has rolled out a new feature for its customers which will allow them to hide replies to their tweets. The company has rolled out this feature on Android, iOS, Twitter Lite, and the desktop version.

According to Twitter, earlier, repliers can shift the topic or tone of a discussion, but now they have tested the option for hiding the replies to their Tweets. "Currently, repliers can shift the topic or tone of a discussion and derail what you and your audience want to talk about. To give you more control over the conversations you start, we tested the option for you to hide replies to your Tweets. We learned that the feature is a useful new way to manage your conversations. Today, we're making this available to everyone globally," Twitter said in a statement.
The firm also informed anyone can reply and engage with the hidden replies by tapping the grey icon. Besides, the company pointed out that during the testing period, they found that people usually hide replies, which they believe are off-topic, irrelevant or annoying. Notably, in Canada, 27 percent of people said they will reconsider how they interact with others in the coming days. In fact, they believe that this will be helpful to manage what they saw.
Furthermore, twitter mentioned that "People may want to take further action after they hide a reply, so now the company will check to see if they want to also block the replier. Some people mentioned that they didn't want to hide replies due to fear of retaliation as the icon remains visible."
Besides, Twitter intimated that these are early findings and they will come up with new features in the future. Apart from that, the company is working on more security options like who can reply or see the conversations.
