WhatsApp for business has been hitting the headlines since the past few weeks. Last month, we had reported that WhatsApp has started verifying business accounts on its platform.

WhatsApp Business features come to light, standalone app likely

While service is in the testing phase, it has been found by an AndroidPolice reader that the service will be introduced as a standalone app instead of a feature within the existing app. It is said that the service will be launched as an app called WhatsApp Business. Users of WhatsApp need to register for WhatsApp Business with another mobile number.

The WhatsApp Business is likely to have the same green chat logo with the letter B in the center. The WhatsApp Business is said to have the same layout as the messaging platform with a search bar and Settings icon on top. There will be tabs for Calls, Chats and Status. Under the Settings option, you will see additions such as Business Settings and Statistics. From the Statistics option, you can see the number of messages those were sent, delivered, read and received as well.

The Business Settings is said to let you edit your profile and sent automated messages to the customers. You can set the business name, location, verified or unverified badge, email address, website, and business description. There is an option to choose a category to suit your business too and some of the options include Event Planning & Service, Automotive, Grocery & Supermarket, etc.

The automated message option will let you set an 'away' status and save a custom message with both text and emoji so that your clients who try to reach you will get an automated response when you are away. You can also set it with a start and end time and date. For now, it looks like WhatsApp Business will have basic features and we can expect more to come as it is in the beta testing phase right now.
