WhatsApp For Android Gets Call Waiting Feature With Group Privacy Setting, Fingerprint Lock
WhatsApp has been working on several updates for both iOS and Android. The WhatsApp call waiting feature on Android is finally here and notifies the user of an incoming WhatsApp call, when already on another call. Users can pick the call or decline it. However, there are some limitations as the first call can't be put on hold.
WhatsApp Call Waiting Feature
The WhatsApp call waiting feature on Android is available both on beta and on stable Android channels via the Google Play Store. However, there is no option of putting the first call on hold as WhatsApp notes two users can't be on the same line at a time like regular calls over cellular networks.
Users will need to cut the first call to pick the second incoming call. If users select the 'End & Accept' button, the ongoing call will automatically get disconnected.
Before the update, users didn't receive any notification for an incoming call while on another call. Instead, users would see a Missed Call notification. The call waiting feature was first made available on iOS a few weeks back and has finally reached Android users now.
WhatsApp Android Update: Other Features
More importantly, the new update version 2.19.352 on the stable Android app (version 2.19.357 and version 2.19.358 of the beta app) also includes fingerprint unlock support and upgraded group privacy settings for better security. The group privacy setting allows users to decide who they can add to a group and even a group WhatsApp call.
The group privacy setting can be accessed via Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. The same Privacy menu also holds the fingerprint unlock option that is believed to enhance the security of the app on the Android device.
