WhatsApp rolls out Dismiss as Admin and High Priority notifications features

The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android gets a new feature. This new feature is called High Priority notifications and it is similar to the pinned chats facility rolled out last year. It will let users manage push notifications in a better way. The other feature is Dismiss as Admin, which was introduced in the Android version a few months back. This feature has made its way to the iOS and web apps of the platform.

High Priority Notifications

Spotted by WABetaInfo, the High Priority notifications feature in the latest Android beta version of the app lets users pin the incoming notifications of the notification center of the device. This option supports both the individual and group chats. It is said that this new feature is available in the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.18.117.

Notably, the High Priority Notifications feature can be accessed from the notifications settings menu. If there are other applications with a similar feature in your smartphone, then the notifications will be displayed in a chronological order.

Dismiss as Admin

The other feature spotted by WABetaInfo is Dismiss as Admin. This feature is aimed at the WhatsApp groups. It gives group admins the privilege to demote other admins. Previously, group admins had to remove others from the group in order to demote them. With this new feature, the admins can be demoted from the position without actually being removed. It is possible to local the option in the Group Info menu option.

This Demote as Admin feature was introduced in the Android beta version 2.18.116 a few months back along with many features aimed at the group admins. Later, the same was removed in the latest Android beta version 2.18.117. Now, the same feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp for iOS version number 2.18.41 and the web version of the app with the version number 2.18.116.
