WhatsApp has been constantly rolling out new features to its users via timely updates. Usually, the beta version of the app will receive the new feature and the same will be rolled out to the stable version only after the successful testing. The most recent feature, which has been rolled out to the Android beta version of WhatsApp is Locked Recording.
The latest update to WhatsApp Android beta with the version number 2.18.102 has enabled the Locked Recording feature. This is a handy feature for those who send a lot of voice messages. With this new feature, you can set the lock while you record the message and it will record until you press the send button or cancel the recording.
Previously, you had to tap and hold the recording button until you are done with the recording and it wasn't too convenient. Finally, the issue has been resolved with the new Locked Recording feature. If you want to try this feature, you need to enroll to the WhatsApp beta program on the Google Play Store and update the app to the latest beta version 2.18.102.
To use the new Locked Recording feature on WhatsApp, you just have to go to the chat screen and press the record button next to the camera and attachments icons. Once you press the record button, you need to drag it upwards to lock it. As soon as the recording is locked, you should cancel the option in the message typing bar. After you are done with the recording, hit the send button to send the same to the recipient or cancel the same if want to move it to the trash.
As of now, the Locked Recording feature is available only for the beta users of Android. We can expect the same to be rolled out to all the users of WhatsApp across platforms such as Android, iOS and Windows Phone soon.
