WhatsApp may soon let you delete messages that have been sent by mistake
The new feature is currently only available in WhatsApp beta.
At least once in our life, we have regretted the texts sent in a drunken stupor. Unfortunately, when you realize the mistake, it is too late as there is no way to unsend the texts.
Well, looks like the scenario is soon going to change. WhatsApp may introduce a new feature that will let you unsend those embarrassing texts you have sent unintentionally. Currently available in the latest WhatsApp beta, this feature is reportedly allowing users to delete the messages that have already been sent. As reported by WABetaInfo, Android insiders are testing the feature.
The latest WhatsApp beta has turned on the dedicated recall server on its end. However, since this feature is in beta, those who are not enrolled in the beta program have to wait for some time now.
Well, no matter how much time it takes before the feature is publicly rolled out, the ability to recall messages will be pretty useful. Sometimes, you may send a message to the wrong person, which lands you up in serious trouble. Hence, once WhatsApp gets enabled with this feature, you wouldn't have to worry anymore.
What's more, after you decide to recall your message, whatever you wrote will not be displayed on the recipient's notification area. In place of the recalled message, there will be a text that reads, "This message was deleted."
At this moment, it is hard to say when exactly this feature will be rolled out to the masses. Also, it is unclear if the feature will be available on both the Android and iOS version of WhatsApp.
