WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that shows how many people are typing a message in a group chat. The feature is currently limited to some beta testers and is expected to be available to a broader audience in the coming weeks.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature appears in version 25.21.10.71 of the iOS beta. The shared screenshot reveals that some beta testers can now explore this feature that allows them to monitor group activity from the chat list in a more accurate way.

Previously, it would only display the name of one participant, even when several people were typing at the same time in a group. However, this feature is limited to typing activity and does not apply to voice message recordings, as per the report. If multiple people are recording a voice message simultaneously, WhatsApp only shows the first participant's name in the list.

Availability

As noted, the new feature that shows how many people are typing a message in a group chat is currently available to some beta testers using the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS via the TestFlight app, with a wider rollout expected in the coming weeks. It's also worth noting that this group chat activity feature already appeared in version 2.25.20.17 of the Android beta.

Moreover, WhatsApp is also testing a feature which will allow users to interact with Meta AI through a dedicated voice interface. Some beta testers can now explore a brand-new interface designed specifically for interacting with Meta AI through voice. All these features are expected to go official for all users in the coming weeks.
