WhatsApp has introduced a host of new features for iOS users with its latest update, version 24.25.93. This update adds augmented reality (AR) effects, customizable video backgrounds, and a built-in document scanning tool, aiming to make the app more engaging and functional.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, these features, previously spotted in beta versions, are now available for all iOS users. The update can be downloaded from the App Store.

Privacy-Oriented Video Backgrounds and Color Adjustments

For users who prefer more privacy or a polished look during video recordings, WhatsApp has introduced customizable backgrounds. These backgrounds obscure the surroundings, adding an extra layer of discretion or visual interest.

Additionally, the update includes tools to tweak the color tone of videos, enabling users to make subtle adjustments for a more tailored visual output.

Scanning Documents Made Simple

Another practical addition is the new document scanning feature, which is now integrated into the app's file-sharing menu. Labeled "Scan Document," this tool allows users to digitize physical documents quickly and efficiently.

Once a document is scanned, WhatsApp automatically crops the image and provides filters such as color, grayscale, and black-and-white to refine the output. The auto-shutter option captures the document when it's perfectly aligned in the frame, and users can manually adjust the borders for precision.
