YouTube Premium Subscribers Report Unexpected Ads: Should You Be Worried?
YouTube Premium is designed to offer an ad-free experience. However, recent reports indicate that some subscribers are still encountering ads. One user even shared a support email in which YouTube explained its reason, although Premium users should not see any ads.
One subscriber reported seeing ads for NFL Sunday Ticket despite having a Premium account. YouTube clarified that while Premium users generally enjoy ad-free content, promotional ads might appear due to specific partnerships or limited-time offers. These promotions are often based on factors like location, viewing history, and account settings.

While YouTube aims to maintain ad-free content for its Premium subscribers, occasional promotional content may still surface due to targeted advertising strategies. Moreover, YouTube representatives informed 9to5Google that they need more information to understand this particular issue fully. They confirmed that Premium subscribers should not encounter pre-roll or mid-roll ads.
If they do, they should contact the support team for assistance. Additionally, Premium members might receive "exclusive access" to rewards on the benefits page, but these should not appear within the videos themselves.
YouTube Premium users get several advantages for a better viewing experience. It recently unveiled a jump-ahead button, picture-in-picture for YouTube Shorts, and early access to experimental features. These are currently accessible to US Premium subscribers on Android with expected rolled out for iOS users in the coming weeks.
Last month, YouTube announced an update to YouTube Shorts, extending the ability to create longer vertical videos. This has come after many creators asked YouTube to allow them to explore its full potential.
YouTube Shorts was launched back in 2020, where users could only record up to 60 seconds of video. Now, it allows creators to record up to 3 minutes of video. YouTube also updated the Shorts player with a streamlined look, allowing creators' content to take center stage and viewers to focus on the content they love.
