The company also announced the Kindle Paperwhite, a new version of the black-and-white Kindle that is thinner and turns pages 15 percent quicker than its predecessor. It also has a new high-contrast screen that Amazon said it will be easier to read, especially in the dark because it is lighted from the bottom.

As far as other specs are concerned the new Paperwhite device will boast a dimension of 169 x 117 x 9.1 mm along with a weight of 213 grams, further, the e-book reader has a 6 inch display with 212 ppi pixel density.

In addition, the Kindle Paperwhite has an onboard storage of 2GB and it comes in two different variants – Wi-Fi and 3G + Wi-Fi. Amazon has claimed that the battery in the Kindle Paperwhite can offer 8 weeks of backup.

Price & Availability

The updated e-book reader is priced at $119 (approx Rs. 7,000). Also, there will be a 3G version of the e-book reader, which will be priced at $179 (approx. Rs 10,000). Both the versions will be available for shipping starting from September 14.
