Bezos first showed off the new Kindle Fire HD, which will actually come in two variants including 7-inch and 8.9-inch version.

Talking about specs, the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD measures around 193 x 137 x 10.3 mm along with a weight of 395 grams. The tablet packs an IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and is equipped with 1.2GHz dual core TI OMAP 4460 processor.

Further, the 8.9 inch version of the tablet sports an IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and is equipped with a 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP 4470 processor. Moreover, its dimensions measure around 240 x 164 x 8.8 mm and a weight of 567 grams.

Both the tablets have dual Wi-Fi antennas, dual speakers, Dolby Digital Plus audio and will be available in two variants – 16GB and 32GB.

Further, the 7 inch and 8.9 inch Amazon tablets will be flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. When it comes to the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD, the 4G LTE version of the tablet will be available in US alone.

The 7 inch tablet is loaded with a powerful battery, which offers high performance for over 11 hours.

Price & Availability

The 7 inch Kindle Fire HD will be shipped starting from September 14 and the 16GB and 32GB versions are priced at $199 (approx. Rs 11,000) and $249 (approx. Rs 14,000).

Coming to the 8.9 inch version, it will shipped starting from November 20 and the 16GB and 32GB variants will be available for $299 (approx. Rs 16,500) and $369 (approx. Rs 20,500).

Also, the 4G LTE version of 32GB 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD will be available for $449 along with an annual subscription plan of 250MB of 4G LTE data per month costing $50.
