While the Indian tablet market is haunted with budget Android tablets from several manufacturers, iBall has made a difference by releasing an Android ICS tablet dubbed as iSlide i9702 with some interesting features. The main highlights of this tablets is the presence of an IPS display and dual core processor, that are available only on high-end devices.

Priced at Rs 14,999, the iBall offering is designed to provide excellent performances and great looks. It is a bold attempt made by iBall to equip a dual core processor and quad core graphics processor in the tablet.

At the same time, analyzing the pricing and specs of the iBall tablet, it seems like the tablet can compete with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, which is priced at Rs 19,300 approximately.

Samsung released Galaxy Tab 2 in the second quarter of the year. The tablet comes with a SIM card slot for voice calling and is making scoring sales in the Indian market.

Hence, take a look at how the two tablets stack up against each other in terms of specifications.

Dimensions and Weight: While the dimensions and weight of iSlide i9702 are not disclosed by the manufacturer, Galaxy Tab 2 boasts a dimension of 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5 mm and weighs around 345 grams.

Display: When it comes to display, iSlide i9702 has a larger 9.7 inch IPS display of undisclosed resolution, however, analysts predict it could have 1024 x 786 pixel resolution.

In comparison, Galaxy Tab 2 sports a 7 inch PLS display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.

Processor: In this segment, iSlide i9702 equipped with a dual core 1.5GHz processor, whereas, Galaxy Tab 2 packs a slower 1GHz dual core processor.

Operating System: On the OS front, both the tablets fare equally as they are flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Camera: When it comes to camera optics, iSlide i9702 has 2MP rear and front cameras and Galaxy Tab 2 has 3MP rear camera and 0.3MP VGA front camera.

Storage: In terms of storage, iBall offering packs 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

On the other hand, Galaxy Tab 2 has 8GB/16GB internal memory, 1GB RAM and a micro SD card for expandable memory up to 32GB.

Connectivity: On the connectivity front, iSlide i9702 comes with Wi-Fi, USB OTG and Host Port and HDMI while Galaxy Tab 2 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 3.0 and micro USB 2.0 Host.

Battery: As claimed by the company, iSlide i9702 is loaded with an 8,000 mAh battery delivering up to 7 hours backup, whereas, Galaxy Tab 2 is powered by a 4,000 mAh Li-ion battery with 20 hours talk time and 800 hours standby.

Price: In terms of pricing, iBall has priced the iSlide i9702 at Rs 14,999 and Galaxy Tab 2 is available for a price of Rs 19,300 approximately.

Verdict

Both iBall iSlide i9702 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 are mid-range Android tablets with pretty impressive specifications and plethora of preloaded software features.

When it comes to specs, of course, iBall iSlide i9702 scores more with a larger display with IPS technology, faster processor and better front camera. Also, the tablet comes loaded with features including Facebook, Zomato, IBN Live, Moneycontrol, Nimbuzz, Cricket Next and Document Viewer.

On the other hand, the Samsung offering is power efficient with a long lasting backup and increased internal storage capacity. Moreover, the tablet will boast a better screen display and will come preloaded with many games and applications including Gmail, YouTube, Sync with Google Calendar, Google Search, Google+, Glonass, Samsung Hub, Reader Hub, Game Hub, Samsung ChatON, Samsung Kies and MyReader.

If the price of the device is a major concern, the iBall iSlide i9702 with better specifications can be the right option.

However, if the concern is on a device with a global brand image, increased software features, better screen display and camera performance,  then Samsung offering is a better option.
