Hyundai Picks Samsung’s Exynos V920 for In-Car Infotainment

Hyundai's Collaboration with Samsung for Infotainment Systems

Hyundai's decision to collaborate with Samsung for its infotainment systems reflects the company's commitment to innovation and providing the best experience to its customers. By joining forces with Samsung, a global leader in semiconductor technology, Hyundai aims to leverage Samsung's expertise to create state-of-the-art infotainment solutions.

The Exynos Auto V920 Processor

At the heart of this collaboration is Samsung's Exynos Auto V920 processor, specifically designed for in-car infotainment systems. As Samsung's third-generation chip in this domain, the V920 processor brings significant improvements in CPU, graphics, and neural processing capabilities.

Enhanced CPU and Processing Power

The Exynos V920 processor incorporates ten of Arm's latest cores optimized for autonomous driving, resulting in a remarkable 1.7 times increase in processing power compared to its predecessor. This boost in performance enables seamless delivery of driving information and supports multi-screen functionality, ensuring high-quality content display across multiple screens.

Support for Multiple Displays and Camera Sensors

With its support for high-speed LPDDR5 memory, the V920 processor can efficiently manage up to six high-resolution displays, catering to various aspects of the vehicle's infotainment system. These displays include the dashboard, infotainment console, rear seat entertainment, and more. Additionally, the V920 processor can handle up to twelve camera sensors, capturing crucial visual data for a comprehensive driving experience.

Improved Graphics and AI Performance

The Exynos V920 processor incorporates advanced GPU cores, delivering graphics processing capabilities up to two times faster than its predecessor. This translates to a visually appealing graphical user interface (GUI) that enhances the overall in-car experience.

Furthermore, the V920 processor's neural processing unit (NPU) exhibits a 2.7 times improvement in performance compared to the previous generation. This advancement enables advanced driver monitoring features, accurately detecting the driver's state and swiftly assessing the surroundings. These features contribute to creating a safer driving environment.

Advanced Driver Monitoring Features

To prioritize driver safety, the V920 processor includes an embedded safety island that adheres to Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL-B) requirements. This safety island effectively detects and manages faults in real time, ensuring the security of the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system and offering peace of mind to users.

Statement from Samsung Electronics

Jae Geol Pyee, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration with Hyundai Motor. He believes that this partnership will reinforce Samsung's position in the automotive infotainment field.
