The Xiaomi smart garbage bin is backed by infrared sensors, motion detectors, and more. When a hand comes within 30 degrees range of the smart garbage bin, the lid automatically opens. If the user simply stretches his/her hand towards the dustbin, the smart sensors are activated which opens the lid.

Xiaomi says there is a 2,000 mAh battery that claims a battery life of 150 days on a single charge in standby mode. Xiaomi says the smart garbage bin can open the lip 20,000 times on a full charge. It would take about three to four hours to fully charge the smart dustbin.

The Xiaomi smart garbage bin was launched in China recently. The launch price of the gadget is RMB 199, which is approximately Rs. 2,050. At present, the smart garbage bin is under the Chinese Youpin crowdfunding platform. Once the crowdfunding is completed, it is believed that Xiaomi will spike the cost of the smart garbage bin to RMB 299, which would roughly be Rs. 3,050.

At present, it remains uncertain if the Xiaomi smart garbage bin will come to India. It is possible that the smart device might come to India after Xiaomi gets independent of the crowdfunding platform.
