Xbox Series X — Next Gen Gaming Console From Microsoft With Ray Tracing
After a plethora of leaks and speculations, Microsoft has officially confirmed the name of its next-generation gaming console -- the Xbox Series X. The upcoming gaming console will go on sale by the 2020 holiday season. The brand has also shared an image of the console along with the newly designed joystick.
Xbox Series X Features
The Xbox Series X comes in a new tower form factor, which is quite unique compared to the previous generation gaming consoles from Microsoft. The official render does confirm that it still retains the Blueray player, and the brand might also launch an affordable variant of the same sans Blueray player.
According to Microsoft, the Xbox Series X will be the most powerful gaming console from the company that sets a new bar in performance, speed, and compatibility. It will support the last three generations of Xbox games as well. In terms of performance, the Xbox Series X is capable of delivering up to 4x more processing power compared to the Xbox One X.
The upcoming gaming console can be used in a vertical or horizontal orientation and it comes with the new Xbox Wireless Controller. The company claims that the new controller has been redefined to accommodate a wider range of people. Plus, it now has a dedicated share button that can capture screenshots and game glimpses with a single click.
The new d-pad, inspired by the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller. Besides, the new controller is compatible with the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs as well. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be one of the first games that can fully utilize the Xbox Series X's hardware capability. The company has also shared video footage of the game that was captured on the Xbox Series X.
According to the company, the Xbox Series X is capable of playing games at 4K 60fps with a possibility of up to 120fps on certain titles. it does support variable refresh rate and has 8K capabilities. The console is powered by a custom-designed processor based on Zen 2 and RDNA architecture from AMD.
This is also the first gaming console to announce the support for hardware-accelerated ray-tracing. It also supports Variable Rate Shading (VRS) technology that enables better gaming performance and the Xbox Series X will come with an SSD by default. To decrease the latency, the brand is using Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Dynamic Latency Input (DLI).
