Sony has officially updated their Playstation Vita console’s software version to 2.0. This would bring in new functionalities like support for gaming service Playstation Plus, file transfer with PC through Wi-fi and better web browser support.

Few days back we had reported the availability of Playstation Plus subscription now for Playstation Vita users too. With this subscription service, all those games which are available on PS3 could be played on Playstation Vita console, as well. A video has surfaced online which shows some of the features of this Playstation Plus service.

The new software update also brings a new email facility to the Vita console. This would support email services like Gmail and Yahoo. Users can set up this email functionality as easy as how they do in a PC. You can configure up to 5 email accounts for a user. It is easy to configure the settings so that as soon as you receive new emails on any of those 5 accounts, they will be notified and you can tap on the notification link to directly go to the email.

The other significant update coming along with this new software version is the video playback support at 1080p resolution. There has been some improvement in web browsing too. GPU performance has been more optimized to deliver much smoother we surfing. Users are allowed to edit and refine the web URL’s directly from the console screen itself.
