Four Days A Week Work Policy Will Improve Productivity; Microsoft
Most of the companies around the world follow 5 days-a-week work culture. However, some companies even have 6 days-a-week work culture. Now, the latest study from Microsoft has proved that a 4 days-a-week work culture will improve the overall productivity with up to 40 percent.
Microsoft conducted an experiment called "Work Life Choice Challenge 2019 Summer" in Japan, where the office was closed on every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in August 2018. When the overall productivity is compared, there is a huge surge in the work done in August compared to the previous months.
Better Work-Life Balance
The study claims that employees will focus more on the work with a three-day weekend concept. Along with this new rule, the company has also reduced the meeting times to 30 minutes and encouraged employees to use remote communication services.
According to the report, there was a reduction of working days in August by -25.4 percent, the number of pages printed has also reduced by -58.7 percent, and lastly, the power consumption was also reduced by -23.1percent.
On the other side of the equation, there was a 46 percent improvement in 30-minute meeting rule, remote conference implementation has also increased by 21 percent. Plus, the number of networks per day also increased by 10 percent.
If we look at the employee satisfaction numbers, 94 percent of employees were happy with the four-day work policy.
To further enhance the Microsoft Work Life Choice Challenge 2019 Summer experiment, the company recommended its employees to use software like Microsoft Team and Office 365 to increase remote collaboration.
Our Inference on Work Life Choice Challenge 2019 Summer Experiment
