Google Shopping Adds 'Google My Business', Google Translate Features In India
Google has been a one-stop platform for tech-savvy users worldwide. Now, Google is trying to improve its features, in particular to the Shopping tab in India. Google My Business is a feature which automatically updates listings of small and medium businesses, so they can reach the end consumer easily. The feature has local language support in India.
Google My Business
There are nearly 20,000 Google My Business listings integrated into the shopping experience on search. Local retailers can create an online store with Google My Business feature and connect with shoppers searching for those products. Retailers can post photos of their in-store products; these will automatically appear on Google search and also in the Shopping tab.
Google said in a statement that the company has seen incredible growth since the launch of Google Shopping, particularly with Indian shoppers. Google says that shoppers are engaging more often and for longer periods when compared with other markets. The company has recorded more than 200 million offers available on Google Shopping.
Google Shopping With Indian Languages
The new feature is certainly going to boost the Google Shopping feature, the company expects. It also plans that approximately 500 million non-English speaking users (both retailers and shoppers) are expected to go online in India over the next two-three years. This is where Google is pushing forth its support for Indian languages.
Google's blog post said that "the rate at which Indian language users are coming online cannot be overstated -- 9 out of every 10 new users coming online are Indian language users." Besides, the tech giant is also using the Google Translate feature to facilitate helpful shopping experiences. Google Translate will also be part of the product listings on the Shopping tab, which is already available in several Indian languages, beginning with Hindi.
Google had previously announced that 20 percent of the search queries in India are in Hindi. Retailers can effortlessly showcase their products to online shoppers, which will automatically be displayed in those regional Indian languages. Google is still working on integrating other Indian languages. The feature is expected to go live in 2020.
